A. 學員對象

This course is designed for students who wish to strengthen their ability to read, understand, and engage with academic theological texts in English. Students will learn theological vocabulary, academic reading strategies, and basic writing skills for summarizing, analyzing, and responding to theological arguments.


B.  本科目標

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize and appropriately use key theological and academic vocabulary.

  2. Apply effective reading strategies (e.g., skimming, scanning, and structural analysis) and listening skills to theological texts.

  3. Accurately summarize and paraphrase theological arguments.

  4. Critically analyze and respond to theological texts in English.


C.  本科內容

This course is designed to strengthen students’ proficiency in reading, listening, and writing within the context of Theological English. Through exposure to a variety of theological texts, sermons, lectures, and academic articles, students will develop their ability to understand and interpret theological ideas expressed in English.

The course emphasizes vocabulary building, comprehension strategies, and critical engagement with theological arguments. Writing tasks will focus on accurate summarizing, paraphrasing, and responding to theological content. By integrating language learning with theological reflection, the course prepares students to participate confidently in English-medium theological discussions, coursework, and ministry communication.


D.  本科要求

  1. Attend lectures and actively participate in in-class discussions.
  2. Participate in weekly online discussions and short tasks (e.g., vocabulary quizzes, skimming challenges, or short summary writing) – 20%
  3. Write a personal testimony (approximately 800 words) – 20%
  4. Submit two summaries of academic theological writings (400–500 words each) – 30%
  5. Write a critical response essay to a theological argument (800–1,000 words) – 30%
